For over 40 years Rick Carter has been in the insurance business. His company, Richard A. Carter & Associates, provides area residents and businesses with life and health insurance, and provides financial services. The company is located at 522 E. Crockett Street - “across from the Post Office”, in Suite 5, and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
“There was a need in this community for my services since there was no one else doing this type of financial consulting,” Carter said. His desire has been to help people understand and plan for future financial risks and needs.
“I am the only person in the Luling trade area who can explain and assist people with Medicare, Medicare supplements, prescription drug plans, individual health coverage, and employee group benefits,” he said. Carter, who was born and raised in Luling, loves the small town atmosphere and knowing most of the residents who live here.
He counts among his memorable experiences the appreciation he has received from senior citizens when he is able to explain and help them with their questions. When he was asked about the challenges that he has faced as a small business owner, he offered, “Any challenges I have faced, I have been able to overcome with my God’s help and protection.”
His future business plans include to continue doing what he has been doing or the past 42 years. For those who are just starting out in business, he offers, “Take care of your clients first. If you are honest and provide the services your clients need, your compensation will take care of itself. Also, be diligent to always return phone calls and to do what you say you will do.”
About shopping local, Carter says, “It is so much more personal and enjoyable when you get to know and do business with someone who lives here or owns a business here. There is no good reason to shop out of town unless that service is not available locally.”
